                                            My failed attempts
We can recommend Lightning Ridge to anyone travelling this great country of ours, it has so much to do and see. A must is the hot spring pools, too hot for Meta only got her toes wet. When we arrived at the pool it was full of the travelling nomads, all trying to rid themselves of their aches and pains. After a wonderful full 4 days at the Ridge,it was time to move on. Tried without success to get the famous Ridge sunsets but the overcast skies prevented me from doing so.
On Thursday 28 June, at 9:30 am we bid farewell to The Ridge and headed north again, passing through Hebel and Diranbandi then onto St George which nestles on the Balonne River. This town is still recovering from the floods that hit them earlier in the year. We only travelled 7 Klm further out from the town before finding a camping spot beside the river, we set up camp along with several others vanners. The place is called Kupunda Park, set up by the owners to earn a little extra without much outlay. Where we were camped was 12.5 mtrs. underwater during the floods.
