After a wonderful stay at O'Connell River and taking in all of the surrounding district including the trip out to the reef we gave our farewells and started our trip back north to pick up the Flinders Hwy.

Its now 16 Aug 2012, we hook up the van and hit the Bruce Hwy. Passing through Bowen and Ayr we started looking for a short cut so as not to go back into Townsville again.

 We found our short cut that would bypass Townsville and bring us out onto the Flinders Hwy some 103km before Charters Towers. Just 22km short of Charters Towers we found ourselves a little gem of a place to hold over for a short period. Its a little bush camp called Bivouac Junction right beside the Burdekin River.
