24 May - 20 June 2012.
The above dates are when Meta and I arrived and then departed Taree after spending time with my family.I will post photos of places that I have revisited, of the area in which I was raised way back in the 1950's and 60's. I will also post a photo or two of my darling Mum ,who is the main reason why we came this way on our trip. Over the period we were here we had many visits with mum and I believe she knew who I was,which warms the heart.

After a very cold night in Blayney, we were up early to hit the road once again, this time travelling through Bathurst and onto Mudgee only to spend the 1 night. Meta and I did a quick stroll around the shopping centres then down to the park beside the river where we found an exersize circuit set up at 100 mtr. intervals. What a great idea, so we had to have a go at this as we hadn't had much physical exersize of late. As you can see we servived the ordeal, only pulling up a little sore. It was the chin ups that weakened us to the point where Meta gave up and I slowed down. Sorry No photos, too weak to hold the camera.

Slept very well after yesterdays experence. Left Mudgee this morning going via Gulgong, Ulan and meeting up with the Golden Hwy. just west of Cassillis. This road will take us past all the big racehorse studs between Merriwa and Denman, which is always a beautiful drive.We continued on through Maitland over to Hexham where we joined up with the Pacific Hwy. As we were only 2 hours before we would arrived at my old stomping grounds around Taree, we decided to push on. We arrived at our destination before dark and set up the van before our hosts arrived home from work.
Our host for our stay here are Meta's nephew Ronald and his lovely wife Lisa along with their 2 boys Mitch and Sam, not forgetting little Goldie the dog. Their place is situated 25 minutes drive from Taree at Upper Lansdowne and what a beautiful spot. These photos are a sample of the view from our van.

Firstly I must apologize for the lack of activity on the blog of late, but I have got a good reason for this.
The place at which we are staying has no or very little phone or internet coverage. This is going to be the case for a little longer, at least until we hit the road again.
Let me take you back a way to where I left of from my very first post and we left Moorook.
It was Friday morning 18 May at 9:30am when we finally hit the road and headed towards Mildura via Loxton.We continued on until 2pm where we found a spot to camp for the night at a place just off the road at Lake Benanee which is 15klm. East of Euston.
This is where I found out that the photos I supposely took at Moorook did not exist, someone had not put the sim card back into the camera after having photos downloaded at woollies some time ago ( I put my hand up ). Now that the camera is under control, I now have a little time before dinner to teach Meta how to cast a line with a lure connected, getting her ready for when we hit the Barra up north.
LAKE BENANEE
Saturday 19 May.
After a peaceful night we were up early and on our way heading across the Hay plains. We thought we could break this part of the trip up being such a long drag across the plains so we turned left half way across and headed into Maude which is on the Murrumbidgee. We had planned to camp beside the river, unfortunately, because of the floods, the camp area had been closed. With no other option open to us we continuted onto Hay taking the back way, which a road we had not taken before, so all was not in vain
.
We took the Mid Western Hwy from Hay and drove towards West Wyalong. Its so good when on holidays and you have your home attached to your vehicle, you can pull over whenever you want. We will do this many times on this trip. Just out of Rankins Springs at a roadside stop, we did just that. It was not long before we were joined by 2 other vans.
After a chat and dinner it was time to watch the footy,another day on the road was over. I can tell you the nights are very cold and are we glad we got the diesel heater installed.

Sunday 20 May
Up and away early once more, travelling through West Wyalong , Cowra and into Blayney. Arriving not long after lunch and booking into the local caravan park as we knew we were staying for a few days.
This is where our foster son David lives and we can now spend some time with him and his family. David works in the nearby gold mines driving thoughs big monster trucks underground. We timed our visit on his days off so we spent all this time catching up. He and his wife Leanne drove us around the area showing us the places of interest.
